WHAT WE DID
At first we got a grade 9 course outline and a Councillor ( I forgot her name) went over it with us. She talked about how many courses there were, which were mandatory, and which were optional. She also explained a little bit about the new courses such as Spanish and metal art. Later we proof-read each other's paragraph. We used terms like AWK and FRAG to help correct our mistakes. Then we used a rubric to rate the paragraph out of 4. This work was all due on Friday.
WHY WE DID IT
We were explained what to do for the course selection sheet so we know what to do. In addition to that, we were explained so we fill the sheet out properly. Furthermore, we rated and proof-read each other's paragraph's so we know what we did wrong and why we did it. Another reason is so we can add more details for our good copies. In the future, we will need these for our next port folios. We proof-read this with a partner so they can spot the errors in your writing that you missed while double checking.
REFLECTION/COMMENTS
The course selection sheet took at least an hour to explain which used up most of our class time. The proof reading with a partner was a very good idea because not only does it let us practice our oral skills, but our cooperation skills as well. It sometimes was a distraction working with a friend because we can sometimes get carried away. I would suggest to partner us up next time other than choosing our own partners.
HOMEWORK
Finish the novel for those of you who have not. Finish proof reading each other's paragraph. Paragraph good copies are due on Monday.
