What we Did

Instead of going to class in the portables like we normally do, we were supposed to meet in the library. Unless you were not in Friday's class, haven't read the learning blogs, or just simply forgot, you would know to go there instead of the portables.

We are doing a project were we have to study a role of a kind of person in the Middle Ages. You could study from being a knight, to a servant, to a priest. To make things more interesting we decided what role we would study by drawing it out of a hat.

Before we did the research about the role we chose, everyone got moved to according what role we chose. Servants would sit in the table with other servants, and merchants would sit in the same table as other merchants.

Then Ms. Lees described using the aid of the smart board to described how to do the bibliography, for the research. We are required to have at least 3 sources. At least one of the sources has to be a book. The requirements for a bibliography varies by the source. To learn more about how to make a bibliography go to the fire hawks library website.

That is only the requirements for the bibliography. For the actual research, you could either take notes in the web format, or outline.

For those who don't know what a web format is, it is when you have to main idea in the center and you have smaller ideas branch out of the main idea. Outlining is when you have the main idea on the top, and you smaller ideas are below it. You make indents to indicate how big or small the information is.

Below is the approximate outline.

For the rest of the block, we spent the time researching the given roles.

Why we did it

We met in the library because it is very hard to do research in the classroom without computers, or books. Bringing the books to the class would be to troublesome.

Mrs. Lees made us sit in groups of our role's chosen class because that way we can share some information. So the merchants can share the books about their class. We learn how to write a bibliography because it it good to know were information came from, especially if it is not your own.

The reason we only did the web formatting, and paragraph formation for our notes is because we learned them already, and Ms.Lees wants to see how much we progresses in our note making ability. It is also good practice because practice makes perfect!

Connections and Reflections

I found that being seated into the class groups was very helpful because it is easier to find were the books about nobles are instead of searching around the class.

It is good to know the structure of a bibliography because most people will do it wrong. Writing a bibliography is a good skill to learn because in the future you won't have to pay someone to write it for you.
